A tale of the stepmother
Giao Hoang
Once Upon A Time,
There were a treasure from the further land,
Where golds and silvers were in sight,
A treasure got sent to me.
Excitement ran through the blood stream,
Opening the gold I’ve dreamed of…
No gold was in sight?
Instead, a sealed tight clay pot.
A scrumptious fragrance, lured me to dig in,
A savory sauce, filled with sweetness
Thickened by the flesh
Its fat was quite unique
Pair well with white rice
Some care and some love
Luscious to the touch on my tongue.
“ That good for nothing girl
At her highest palace
With gold, silver and love
Happily ever after,
THAT I DESERVE!
… She must be on her lost mind!
After that many deeds
I did for selfishness
She still gives out the love
The care I don’t deserve…
You are may not my seed
I still give you flowers for this”
Dig more, dig in the sauce
Can’t stop myself eating
The excitement is back
Maybe this is the real gold.
More rice, more sides, more sauce
Dig to this pot’s bottom
Sudden white sphere turns up
Dark round shallow sockets…
Heart stops, hands still, mind sinks
Familiar structures
Chokes up, gasping for air
The eyes piercing the mind
Eyes to eyes, face to face
Consuming her, my own seed…
The other
Daughter
Of mine.
